Why are we building Eduglu?
We see three big problems with the online education software market and existing offerings.
- Most online learning software is geared toward meeting the specialized needs of large organizations hence is expensive and often difficult to use for teachers and students.
- Social learning tools are either non-existent or poorly integrated in existing offerings. Teachers are forced to use tools gathered from across the web. Social learning tools, while promising, are not easy to use and require significant time, effort, and initiative on the part of individual teachers to make them work.
- Most online learning software assumes learning groups all learn and interact in similar ways.
With Eduglu, we're committed to making Eduglu a delight for students and teachers to use. We do this by working closely with open-source communities to package our work together to create an innovative, affordable, delightful social learning platform
Eduglu brings a simple and consistent set of social learning tools to your classroom. We integrate where possible with the best social learning and social media tools or work with the Drupal community to build tools native to Eduglu.
As you know, there are many different types of learning groups from large introductory university courses to small informal study group, from collaborating biology researchers to small-village farmers in India. Eduglu is designed to reflect this reality. Eduglu let's you define different kinds of learning groups with different permissions, learning tools, and types of interactions so your learning groups, whatever they may be, can hit the ground running.
